Family Law publishers, Epstin and Madsen, have annotated Gwen Goebel’s most recent victory in Cozart v. Cozart, 2007 SaskQB 160 (Sask. Q.B.) (“Cozart“)

Decided by Justice R.S. Smith, Cozart is an object lesson to counsel who draft settlement documents at case conferences or settlement conferences. Here the court considered whether a written settlement document signed by the parties and witnessed by the lawyers did in fact reflect the actual settlement reached by the parties at the end of very lengthy negotiations.

Gwen’s determined advocacy garnered her client a successful result in this matter.
