Consistent with the requirements of our profession we adhere to the duty to hold in strict confidence all information concerning the business and affairs of our clients gathered in the course of our professional relationship, and not to divulge such information unless expressly or impliedly authorized by the client, required by law, or otherwise permitted or required by the Code of Professional Conduct.

We are responsible for the personal information we collect. Our firm stores and maintains your personal information in conformity with the requirements and principles of the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act, and other applicable laws. To ensure our accountability we have developed this privacy policy and trained our lawyers and staff to permit them to implement and observe this and other policies and practices.

ACCESS TO YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION

We will provide individuals with access to the personal information we hold about them in accordance with applicable laws. We reserve the right to require that any request for access to personal information be made in writing. We reserve the right to charge such costs on a case by case basis in accordance with applicable laws.

You will be notified in advance if charges apply.

CORRECTING ERRORS

If we hold information about you and you can establish that it is not accurate, complete and up-to-date, we will take reasonable steps to correct or amend it. If the information cannot be changed your request and our decision will be noted in the file.

EXCEPTIONS TO ACCESS

We will endeavour to provide you with access to your personal information. However, in certain circumstances it may not be possible. In any case where we are unable to, or cannot, grant you access to personal information we will provide you with reasons on request.

EXCEPTIONS TO ACCESS MAY INCLUDE:

  • Information that is prohibitively costly to provide;
  • Information that has been destroyed;
  • Information that contains personal information about a third party or is protected by solicitor client privilege, or would reveal confidential commercial information, and which cannot be severed from disclosure;
  • For other legal and security reasons which relate to the enforcement of any law of Saskatchewan or Canada.
