A graduate of the University of Saskatchewan, Misty received her Bachelor of Arts Honours degree in 2003 and a Juris Doctor degree in 2006. She was called to the Saskatchewan Bar in 2007.

Misty is a member of the Saskatoon Construction Association, Saskatchewan Trial Lawyers Association (STLA) and the Canadian Bar Association (CBA), as well as the past Chair of CBA’s Construction and Infrastructure branch. She has been a panel presenter for the CBA Mid-Winter Meeting and has presented for the CBA and STLA on builders’ liens and debt recovery issues.

Misty firmly believes that to succeed as a construction lawyer, you must understand and remain active in the local construction industry. She shares her knowledge and experience in construction law as a contributor to WeBuild, the Saskatchewan Construction Association’s quarterly magazine, and as a regular seminar and conference presenter for a number of industry organizations, including the local Construction Associations (Saskatchewan, Saskatoon and Prince Albert), Merit Contractors Association Saskatchewan, the General Contractors Association of Saskatchewan and the Canadian HealthCare Engineering Society (Saskatchewan Chapter). Misty has also served as a Guest Lecturer for the University of Saskatchewan’s Construction Law course, an instructor for the Management Essentials for the Construction Industry course offered by Great West Plains College, an instructor for the Principles of Construction Documentation course offered by the Saskatoon Chapter of Construction Specifications Canada, and an annual presenter for the Saskatoon Construction Association’s Construction 101 course.

Misty was heavily involved in shaping the construction industry’s feedback and development of prompt payment legislation. On March 1, 2022 The Builders’ Lien (Prompt Payment) Amendment Act, 2019 was put into force. Misty’s work helped Saskatchewan become the second jurisdiction in Canada with such legislation. As part of the adjudication provisions in the prompt payment legislation, Misty also assisted in the development of the Adjudicator Training course offered by ADR Institute of Canada/Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, and later served as one of the course instructors.

Misty has also served as an Executive Member (Legal Officer) for the Saskatoon Chapter of Construction Specifications Canada, earning their Chapter Award of Merit in 2019. In the fall of 2024, Misty joined the Board of Directors for the Saskatoon Industry Education Council (SIEC), an organization that serves as a bridge between Saskatchewan’s career opportunities and Saskatoon area youth.

Since 2019, Misty has been recognized by Best Lawyers as a leading practitioner in the area of construction law and was named “Lawyer of the Year Construction Law (Saskatoon)” for 2024 and 2022. She is also recognized by Lexpert as a Lexpert ranked lawyer in construction law.

Away from the office, Misty devotes her time to sports and sport administration. She is a former captain of the University of Saskatchewan Women’s Huskie Hockey team, where she played for 5 seasons and later acted as an assistant coach and colour commentator for their home game web broadcasts. She is now a member of the Huskie Women’s Hockey Alumni Committee.

Since 2018, Misty has volunteered as a head coach in the Saskatoon Comets Female Hockey zone, and was awarded their Junior Coach of the Year Award in 2024.  Her past contributions to the local sports community include serving as a Director of Sask Sports Inc., Chair of the Annual Saskatoon Kidsport Breakfast Committee and a member of the University of Saskatchewan’s Ice Facility Campaign Committee and 2024 USports Women’s Hockey Nationals Committee.
